Following the opening of a new art gallery in Redditch on 3rd November 2007, a special exhibition was organised and held on Saturday 8th March. The event was attended by Jacqui Smith, the Home Secretary and also Redditch Mayor
Mr David Hunt who enjoyed meeting and talking with the visitors and local artists.
The Gallery, at Millsborough House in Ipsley Street Redditch is the dream of brothers Gary and David Simpson who have been picture framers in Redditch since 1988. The event was organised in association with local artists from the Art Circle who were in attendance to display their work together with a superb display of both artwork and memorabilia supplied by local historians Alan Foxall, Ray Saunders and Tom Bough. Pictures depicting, in particular, the history of local factories such as The Royal Enfield and Needle Museum were on show and well received.
It is intended that the new gallery will provide an informal venue for local artists to meet, discuss and share their interest.
In the meantime, please enjoy browsing our on-line gallery featuring all of the photographs taken during this special event.
